The Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment) [DECSE(HI)] is a diploma program introduced by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) in 2001. The program is designed to produce qualified teachers capable of developing language, speech, and literacy skills in children with hearing impairment, from birth to six years of age.

The examinations for this program are conducted by the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH), Mumbai. Upon successful completion, candidates will be registered with RCI and issued a certificate of registration.

Duration:
1 year (July – May)

Curriculum:
The course includes both theoretical and practical training in the field of education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.


Admission Eligibility

Applicants must have passed the Plus Two (12th grade) or equivalent examination from a recognized Central/State Board of Education with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

Preference will be given to parents, siblings, and family members of deaf and hard-of-hearing children who meet the above qualification criteria.
